Oh, My Goddess!
What a glorious event! By my count, about 70 people attended our book launch on July 1st (Canada Day) in North America and July 2nd in the Antipodes.
Special thanks to devoted Perth residents (Peter and Mike, in particular), who made an early start to join us on a Sunday morning.
I’m still recovering.
Our launch brought back poignant memories of the launch of Kitchen Table Sustainability at the Avid Reader bookshop in Brisbane in 2009. It gave my late husband, Karl Langheinrich, a chance to wear the new hat Yollana Shore gave him for his birthday.
That self-same Yollana was our MC. We’ve worked together for over twenty years, so it felt perfect. Yollana did a marvellous job of juggling the technology, taming Zoom, and making everyone feel welcome and comfortable.
For me and my partner, Christopher Baudat, this event was the culmination of two years (for him) and about half a lifetime (for me) working on this project. It felt glorious to be celebrating with friends and family.
Here’s a screenshot of about half of us:
I’ll report in more detail later and share the three videos (from the audiobook) we made especially for the launch. For now, I encourage everyone to visit other parts of the website and purchase the book in eBook or paperback format.
Last week, Chris finished adding the last of hundreds of special effects (music, birdsong, sighs, creek sounds, wind, old truck on a gravel road, hammers, chisels, kookaburras, white cockatoos, footsteps on dry leaves, original songs by Dominic Brinkley, me, and Rachel Miers Colella…) into the body of the amazing 12-hour Creeksong audiobook.
This beyond-awesome creative project will be for sale in early September, 2023
Bravo, Chris!
