STAY CLOSE
Love, loss, and an unbreakable bond in the face of unimaginable loss lead Wendy to a deeper relationship with her Beloved - despite his death.
"IN SECONDS, HE MOVES FROM LIFE TO LIFELESSNESS. MY BELOVED DROWNS IN FRONT OF ME."
When Wendy and Karl's car plunged over one hundred feet into a river in rural Australia, Karl drowned as Wendy tried to save him.
But for Wendy and Karl, death was just the beginning of a new, deeper relationship that neither of them could have imagined.
FROM STAY CLOSE BY WENDY SARKISSIAN
"Welcome! I’ve been waiting for you, and I’m so glad you’re here. I conceived this book for you in unimaginable pain and crafted it with love and hopefulness. It’s both a story and a guide. It’s a personal story of love, loss, redemption, and healing.
And it’s a guide to a specific approach to healing from loss and grief following the death of a loved one.
This book is about staying connected with a loved one who has died — and finding and following helpful ways of doing that. It explores ways of using that connection for healing, using approaches that have stood the test of time and that integrate psychological, spiritual, and mental processes.
This book is my “meaning-making” — a new form birthed from the deep sorrow of the sudden loss of my beloved husband, Karl. I have learned that meaning can give hope to suffering and may ultimately bring joy into our lives. I found that one key to healing is finding meaning in what we have suffered."
MORE THAN A BOOK, STAY CLOSE BRINGS THE GIFT OF CONNECTION WITH THOSE WHO HAVE PASSED ON.
As an academic, scientist, ecologist and urban planner, Dr Wendy Sarkissian PhD is as far from the stereotype of mystic or medium that could be imagined.
Yet, with the spiritual-scientific works of the Austrian scientist and thinker Rudolf Steiner as her guide, Wendy developed her own approach to opening a channel between the living and the dead, which allowed her to receive over six hundred messages from Karl over twenty months. Messages that spoke of acceptance, gratitude and forgiveness, urging her to form deeper connections with others.
Stay Close explores the healing of loss, grief, and trauma in the context of the wider container of consciousness that extends beyond our limited human perspectives.
It is about widening our embrace with life and seeking healing options in the highly charged atmosphere of despair and a sense of futility that often accompanies the death of a loved one.
A revised version of Stay Close, updated and expanded with Dr Sarkissian's innovative approach to surviving climate grief, will shortly be published as Hold Fast.
