Welcome to Blewett Springs, South Australia, where Nature’s embrace awaits to nurture your soul and awaken your senses. Join us on 25 May 2024, for a transformative workshop hosted by Becky Hirst and facilitated by Becky Hirst and Wendy Sarkissian. Together, let’s embark on a journey of rediscovery and reconnection with the natural world, guided by the wisdom of poets, the power of film, and the rituals of respect and gratitude.
Workshop Highlights:
Opening Ceremony: Honoring Earth and Setting Intentions
As we gather amidst the serene beauty of the Earth. Together, we’ll set the intention to align our energies with the natural world while acknowledging the realities of climate breakdown. Through guided meditation and silent reflection, we’ll offer our gratitude to the Earth for its abundance and beauty, setting the tone for a day of deep connection and mindful presence.
Connecting through Poetry and Personal Objects
In the spirit of sharing and camaraderie, we’ll come together to explore our connections with Nature through poetry, text, and personal objects. Each participant is invited to share a favorite poem, a passage of text, or a cherished object that symbolizes their relationship with the natural world. Through heartfelt expressions and attentive listening, we’ll deepen our understanding of our interconnectedness with the Earth and each other.
Film Screening and Thoughtful Discussion
Join us for a screening of Australian Director/Producer Michael Shaw’s poignant documentary, “Living in the Time of Dying,” which offers insights into the profound challenges of the climate catastrophe. Following the screening, we’ll engage in a group discussion, exploring our emotional responses, key themes, and insights from the film. Together, we’ll ponder questions about humanity’s role in addressing climate breakdown and collapse and finding meaning in adversity.
Prayer Tree Ceremony
Step outside and join us in a sacred ritual of hope and healing as we decorate a local tree with prayers for the Earth. Through colorful ribbons and heartfelt intentions, we’ll offer our collective hopes and wishes for restoring our Earth’s vitality. This symbolic gesture reminds us of our shared responsibility to nurture and protect the Earth for future generations.
Creative Expression and Reflection
Tap into your creativity and express your personal connection to Nature through art and craft. With various materials at your disposal, unleash your imagination and create representations of the natural world that resonate with your soul. Afterward, we’ll share our creations and reflect on the insights gained through the creative process.
Guided Visualization: Envisioning Harmony with Nature
Embark on a guided journey of imagination led by Wendy Sarkissian. You’ll envision a world where humans and Nature coexist in harmony. Through visualization and non-dominant hand drawing, you’ll deepen your connection with the natural world and explore your role as a person who can commit to caring for the Earth’s well-being.
Personal Sustainability Action Plan (PSAP)
Receive a generous gift from Australian executive coach, Yollana Shore—a Personal Sustainability Action Plan to guide you in integrating sustainability practices into your daily life. Together, we’ll discuss practical actions and initiatives that promote resilience and positive change in our communities.
The Courage to Move Forward
Draw inspiration from affirmations of courage as we reflect on our commitment to caring for Nature. Through heartfelt dialogue and mutual encouragement, we’ll empower each other to take bold steps toward a sustainable future.
Closing Ceremony: Celebrating Connection and Gratitude
As the day draws to a close, we’ll gather in a final circle to celebrate our shared journey of reconnecting with Nature. Through uplifting music, ceremonial rituals, and expressions of gratitude, we’ll honor our connection with the Earth and each other. Together, we’ll embrace the courage and unity needed to continue our work of caring for the Earth.
